The Commemorative Quarter for California

Welcome to Mission ...

So far, we found very little information about Mission. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Mission to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Mission - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Mission, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Mission , we believe that it would have been located within present day Yuba County<2>.

Time Zone: The area where Mission was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Mission still existed, it would have been in the (530) area code.

Communities Also Named Mission ...

While we believe that this Mission is located in Yuba County, we know of another 5 California communities named Mission. Those communities are located in the following counties: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Clara County.

Beyond California, there are 25 communities that are also named Mission - they are located in Arizona, British Columbia, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas (4), Michigan (3), Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina (2), Oregon, South Dakota, Texas and Washington.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Mission, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of California's counties, including Yuba, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
