The coastal city of Victoria is located on the south coast of Vancouver Island (the Juan De Fuca Strait).



Victoria was established in 1849 and was incorporated August 2, 1862.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Victoria: Named after Her Majesty Queen Victoria (1819-1901), who ascended to the throne in 1837.
