At the time of the 2010 Census, Mesa had a population of 439,041 people (or 11.5% of the total population of Maricopa County). This makes Mesa the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Mesa represents 6.87% of the population of Arizona (which has 6,392,017 people), making it the state's 3rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 439,041 people, the population of Mesa increased 10.76% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 396,375 people).
