At the time of the 2010 Census, Douglas had a population of 17,378 people (which is 13.23% of the total population of Cochise County). This makes Douglas the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Douglas represents 0.27% of the population of Arizona (which has 6,392,017 people), making it the state's 34th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 17,378 people, the population of Douglas increased 21.42% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 14,312 people).

We originally found mention of Douglas in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Douglas was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Douglas post office opened in 1901.

We also found Douglas on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Arizona and New Mexico (1925).
