The location of Obin has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Obin, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1878.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Obin is 300 feet [91 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Obin was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Obin in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Obin was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Obin post office opened in 1878.

We also found Obin on a map titled William Bradley Map (1889).
