So far, we found very little information about New Moon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have a date for the founding of New Moon, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1881.

While the community is gone, the present day location for New Moon is 970 feet [296 m] above sea level.<4>.

Adding New Moon to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of New Moon in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for New Moon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the New Moon post office opened in 1881.

We also found New Moon on a map titled William Bradley Map (1889).
