Welcome to Chalk ...So far, we found very little information about Chalk. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Chalk to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Chalk, please Contact Us. Chalk was located in the Arkansas Ozarks. Chalk would have been located within present day Van Buren County<2>. The location of Chalk has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Chalk, you might consider that their post office opened in 1888. While the community is gone, the present day location for Chalk is 610 feet [186 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Chalk was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time Chalk would have been located in the (501) area code.
