So far, we found very little information about Penola. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Penola to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Penola , we believe that it would have been located within present day Sumter County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Penola, you might consider that their post office opened in 1844.

Time Zone: The area where Penola was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Penola would have been located in the (205) & (659)<3> area codes.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Penola was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Penola post office opened in 1844.

We also found Penola in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
