The location of Hunter has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Hunter, you might consider that their post office opened in 1887. While the community is gone, the present day location for Hunter is 510 feet [155 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Hunter was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time If Hunter still existed, it would have been in the (256) and (938)<5> area codes. Communities Also Named Hunter ...While we believe that this Hunter is located in Colbert County, we know of another 2 Alabama communities named Hunter. Those communities are located in the following counties: Dallas and Montgomery County.
