Time Zone: Montgomery County lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Montgomery is the Seat for Montgomery County. In addition, the community of Montgomery is also the capital of Alabama.

Montgomery County was founded in 1816 and was created by taking area from MonroeCounty.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Montgomery had a population of 224,119 people. This is an increase of 0.27% since the last Census (which gave a population of 223,510 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Montgomery represented 5.03% of the total population of Alabama, making it the state's 4th most populous county (out of 67 counties).
