The population of Saxman represents 0.06% of the total population of Alaska (which has 710,231 people), making it the state's 69th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 411 people, the population of Saxman decreased 4.64% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 431 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Saxman was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Saxman post office opened in 1897.
