Welcome to Afognak ...So far, we found very little information about Afognak. If you can help us with Afognak, please Contact Us. The town of Afognak was located on Afognak Bay, which is on the southwest coast of Afognak Island. The location of Afognak has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2> While we don't have a date for the founding of Afognak, you might consider that their post office opened in 1888. While the community is gone, the present day location for Afognak is 90 feet [27 m] above sea level.<3>. Time Zone: The area where Afognak was located is in the Alaskan Time Zone (AKST/AKDT) and observes daylight saving time If Afognak still existed, it would have been in the (907) area code.
